Whatman filter paper no. 40 is recommended for gravimetric quantitative analysis. Some characteristics are:
- flow rate: medium
- Herzberg filtration speed: approx. 340
- porosity: approx. 8 micrometers
- ash: max. 0,oo7 %
- thickness: 210 micrometers
- weight: 95 g/m2
Whatman sells various types of filter paper, including qualitative filter paper, quantitative filter paper, ashless filter paper, and high-purity filter paper. Their filter paper is used for various laboratory applications such as filtration of liquids, separation of solids, and sample analysis.
This filter paper is not so important, you can use different types. An example is Whatman grade 2 filter paper; see the link below.
Whatman Paper
Filter paper is used regularly in chemistry experiments, for suction filtration and waighing out compounds.
Is a large series of filter papers, very useful in many laboratory works. This includes many sizes, all depends the use that you will need.

Whatman filter paper is the traditional laboratory filter paper used for chromatograms. It is a good quality paper with reasonably reproducible performance. It is pure, containing few contaminants, that could interfere with the chromatoograms. Many published papers used it making it a kind of default standard.
No, the Domesday Book was not written on Whatman paper. The Domesday Book, which was a comprehensive survey of land and property in England, was written on parchment. Whatman paper, on the other hand, was developed in the 18th century and was not in use during the time the Domesday Book was compiled in the 11th century.
See the link below for details. Whatman is a source of papers for chromatography.
Filter paper is white.
No. With the exception of his one oil painting and several brown-paper drawings, all of Beardsley's drawings were done on the same Whatman medium-weight drawing paper. He never used Bristol board (popular at the time), or any other type of wood or paper. The reason for this being that he was often bed-bound (due to TB), and had to write in a notebook. Thus, most of his drawings are a uniform size and almost all are on the Whatman notebook paper. Beware of fakes that are on other sorts of paper or board!
Do you mean Millipore Filter Papers? Millipore is a corporation that provides tools and services for bioscience research. Their prooducts include filter papers used in various experiments. Their website has a picture/descriptions of various filter papers offered: http://www.millipore.com/techpublications/tech1/pf1075en00
Paper electrophoresis is used to analyze scientific experiments. One use in scientific experiments for paper electrophoresis is to determine the presence of HIV from blood samples.
