X-ray actually does pass through plain glass, and quite easily in most cases. It is often very difficult to find a small piece of glass embedded in the human body because the density of most types of glass is not high enough to stop or absorb enough of the x-ray to make it show up against the normal body tissues. Perhaps you are thinking about the special glass window that a technologist or radiologist stands behind when watching you during your x-ray. That isn't regular glass, but a special lead-glass designed in specific lead equivalencies and standard thickness to stop radiation from penetrating under various radiation conditions. The lead-equivalency of radiation safety glass is based on exposures at 150 kV.

Some types of lead glass and glassware are used for their decorative properies and do have a fairly high density. They can in some cases absorb a great deal of radiation and show up quite well on a routine x-ray. These aren't the standard type of glass. Now days these types of decorative glass "lead crystal"are not made from real lead due to safety concerns, but blends of barium sulfate, etc.
