because stupid HP made it work only on USB1.1 ports, on a USB2 port it wont be recognized. to slow down a USB2 port to act like a USB1.1 do the following: Go to Device Manager. Find the USB section. One of the USB entries
has the word "Enhanced" in it. Select that entry. Do "properties"
on it. At the bottom of the Properties for the Enhanced entry,
there is a "Device Usage" box. It has values like
Use this device (enable)
Do not use this device (disable)
Change the setting to "disable".

The school's HP Laserjet 1300 printers are printing multi-page documents with all pages superimposed on one sheet. The department head claims it is a virus. How can this behaviour be stopped?
Once I went into the Control Panel and disabled the advanced printing features for our 1300n printer, this behavior ceased. (We are running MS Win Server 2003 and the HP LJ 1300n)

The print drivers are now installed, but they aren't yet associated with the printer hardware. 7. Go to the laserjet 1012 icon sorted under "unspecified" in devices (this is your actual printer, which isn't associated with working drivers yet). Right click -> "properties" -> hardware tab -> "properties" -> driver tab -> "uninstall". The printer should be removed from the devices list. 8. Unplug your printer's usb cable and plug it back in. 9. The printer should pop back up in the "unspecified" list, then the driver should be associated with it automatically and it will move to the "printers" list. It should now be working.
