Because you can get more torque with it.
Long-handled shovels are more useful as you can get better "lift" from them, but may cost a bit more.
Because the long handle allows more leverage to be applied to the nut.
A long handled wrench gives you more leverage on those very tough bolts. However, a long wrench also has difficulty moving in tight quarters, so to counter this I carry a 16" piece of 1 1/2 steel pipe, flattened at one half. This easily slides over even my biggest wrenches giving me a lot more leverage, yet being able to shorten if I wish.
Most of them require a long handled 3/8 ratchet.
The longer handle uses more distance so you need less force.
the long handle provides a greater lever effect
A hammer and a shovel better if it's a long handled shovel
Short it's easier to manage
Umm short hair is way better but it depends on what you think
Long handled vellum battledores, short handled vellum battledores, plain wooden rackets, sandpaper covered rackets and cork-faced rackets.

Rākau Māori (Māori weaponry) was designed for hand-to-hand combat. In battle it was common for toa (warriors) to take a long handled weapon such as a taiaha (long-handled fighting staff) and a short weapon such as a patu (club) tucked into a belt.
