No. 1 reason they can loose your lives! Once a hurricane gets started it is very hard to get out. As many soon found themselves in trouble in Lindenhurst. The tide rose 8ft above sea level soon flooded streets and most of the ground floors of houses. It was dark they not only risked their lives, but the first responders that worked all night to pull them out. The water was soon filled with oil from boats, cars and oil tanks. Their was debris all over, cars were under water. So if you are asked to leave go to a hotel, friends, or anywhere you can seek shelter. Take your animals too! Better safe than sorry as soon many found out. If I was asked to leave I wouldn't think twice. If you ask anyone who during the hurricane. All said, "I wouldn't hesitate I would go!" Most seeked shelter on the second floor. Some houses were moved off their foundations and moved down the street.
