service sector in India has been growing at a rapid pace and is one of
the major drivers giving impetus to the booming Indian economy. They
now account for more than 50% of our GDP , thus playing a major role in
the common man's life. Despite its magnitude of it contributing to more
than half of India's GDP , the service sector is still in the nascent
stage and there is a lot more to be explored and exploited ..
Perusing through the Curriculum of the program focussed towards
services sector , what impressed me most was the flexibility and
autonomy given to students in being able to choose a particular service
sector such as IT , ITES , Banking and Financial Services to specialize
in. Moreover , functional specializations such as Marketing , HR
,Finance and Operations are also provided.
Completing such an academic program would give my career a well defined
"service focus" with highly innovative offerings such as Interpersonal
Dynamics, Team Building, Emerging Service Sectors, Business Ethics,
Corporate Governance and Creativity and Entrepreneurship and would also
help immensely in developing my personality.
Services is a sector that needs a high degree of customer contact and a
sound knowledge of IT , thus requiring us to have good 'people ' and '
IT' skills. Working in Cdot as a research engineer helped me develop
and sharpen such skills and am looking forward to enhancing them in
