The

service sector in India has been growing at a rapid pace and is one of

the major drivers giving impetus to the booming Indian economy. They

now account for more than 50% of our GDP , thus playing a major role in

the common man's life. Despite its magnitude of it contributing to more

than half of India's GDP , the service sector is still in the nascent

stage and there is a lot more to be explored and exploited ..

Perusing through the Curriculum of the program focussed towards

services sector , what impressed me most was the flexibility and

autonomy given to students in being able to choose a particular service

sector such as IT , ITES , Banking and Financial Services to specialize

in. Moreover , functional specializations such as Marketing , HR

,Finance and Operations are also provided.

Completing such an academic program would give my career a well defined

"service focus" with highly innovative offerings such as Interpersonal

Dynamics, Team Building, Emerging Service Sectors, Business Ethics,

Corporate Governance and Creativity and Entrepreneurship and would also

help immensely in developing my personality.

Services is a sector that needs a high degree of customer contact and a

sound knowledge of IT , thus requiring us to have good 'people ' and '

IT' skills. Working in Cdot as a research engineer helped me develop

and sharpen such skills and am looking forward to enhancing them in

your academic program
