I assume that your ABS light has come on. The ABS computer has detected a problem with the system. One common cause is that one of more of the speed sensors[there at each axle hub] has detected something like mud that is keep the system from generating a signal. Find the wires. THE axle hub at each wheel has 48 serrations that rotate past the sensor and generate an AC voltage which changes with speed. The frequency is used by the ECU [computer] to detect the speed at each wheel. The sensor is positioned very close to the hub serrations. Mud or other debris can get between the sensor and the hub and block the signal. By the way,the ABS system runs a self diagnostic check every time you start the car. The ABS light means that the system is not operating brake system functions normally. You just don't have the anti-lock feature.There are other things that can go wrong, but foreign matter at the tip of the sensor is a big cause of ABS problems. The dealer has a tester that hooks into the ABS system to diagnose problems.
