I understand my dog by her eyes and movements and the tension of her bark. If her eyes are wide open she is happy. Closed she is tired. One eye open and one closed she is alert. Squinted she is annoyed. When determining her movements i look at her ears. If her ears are perked she is alert, back she is afraid or ready to attack. If they are lying she is calm.
