The three coils are actually called UVW. They are called that because they are for the three phases of a 415v supply.

Why dc motor is not named as conduction motor?

In dc motors, the electric power is conducted directly to the armature (i.e., rotating part) through brushes & commutator. Hence, in this sense a dc motor can be called as a Conduction motor. However, in ac motors, the rotor does not receive any electric power by conduction but by induction in exactly the same way as the secondary of a two winding transformer receives its power from the primary. That is why such motors are called as Induction motors. An induction motor can be treated as a rotating transformer i.e., one in which primary winding is stationary but secondary is free to rotate.

Is a zinc anode acts the terminal?

No. It seems Zinc would always act as the negative terminal. Anode and Cathode are the terms used when we connect an external electrical source to the device. If positive terminal of an external battery is connected to the electrode then that electrode is named as ANODE. If negative terminal is connected then it is named as CATHODE. In case of chargable device, while discharging say P acts as negative terminal. Then while charging this negative terminal would be the anode. So if the device is a chargable one and Zn acts as negative terminal while delivering current to the external load, then the same zn would acts as anode while charging.

Three basic type of dc motor?

hair dryer, cars ,lawnmower ,generator ,computer ,pool ,cleaner ,tv ,plane ,cell phone ,fans ,heaters ,remote contrl car ,boat For DC: Permanent magnet brush motor; (uses fixed magnets for stator fields); toys and automotive use Shunt field motor; (field winding has many turns of fine wire in parallel with armature) small machines; Series field motor; (field winding has few turns of heavy wire in series with armature); high speed, high torque; Compound field motor; (has both series and shunt fields); large machinery, general purpose workhorses; Brushless DC motors (use electronics to switch stator windings on and off, and have permanent magnet rotors) small fans and light loads. For single phase AC: Split Phase induction motor (2 different windings connected to supply, cage type rotor) low torque, general purpose; Capacitor Start induction motor; (As per split phase, but with capacitor in series with starting winding) high starting torque, general purpose; Capacitor start, Capacitor run induction motor; (as per capacitor start, but different capacitors used for starting and running) high starting and running torque, quietest running; Shaded pole induction motor; (run winding and copper or aluminium ring around part of iron core of stator) small, cheap motors, low torque; Universal motor; (as per series DC motor above) high torque, high speed, poor speed stability. For 2 or 3 phase AC (star or delta connected) Polyphase induction motor (2 or 3 identical windings on stator, cage rotor) general purpose; Wound rotor induction motor (2 or 3 identical windings on stator, wound rotor connected in star to 3 sliprings and external resistance unit) very high starting torque, low starting current; Synchronous motor; (standard stator, and wound rotor connected to DC supply for 'excitation' of rotor field) constant speed, power factor correction.

Does terminal negative and ground same?

Normally they are used as if they were same but ground means that this connection is linked to earth, negative means that this connection is linked to a negative terminal. It is possible that someone has named the terminal incorrectly and named it ground instead of negative. Voltage between negative terminal and ground is normally 0, that means that they are on the same potential and that there is no danger of short-circuit.

Who Demonstrated Electromagnetic Induction?

Electromagnetic induction was discovered independently but at about the same time by Joseph Henry (1797-1878) of the United States and Michael Faraday (1791-1867) of England. The henry, the unit of inductance, is named after Henry, and the farad, the unit of capacitance, is named after Faraday.
