Possible reason there is no spark on a 1987 to 1990 Chevrolet Celebrity V6:
This assumes that the spark plugs and wires are in good order and the ignition key is on.
No power to the ignition module.
Faulty ignition module.
Faulty crankshaft position sensor.
Faulty wiring or connectors.
Faulty engine control module (engine computer)
There may well be others, these are common causes I have seen.
The spark plug gap for a Chevy Celebrity V6 is 0.045".
The spark plug gap for a 1986 Chevy Celebrity with the 2.5L 4 cyl engine is .060".
The spark plug gap for your 1989 Chevy Celebrity 2.8 V6 is .045".
Are you asking about an engine misfire? If so you can use an inductive timing light to determine which cylinder is not getting any spark. Misfire could be caused by: Bad spark plug. Bad spark plug wire. Bad coil. If it is the coil then two cylinders would misfire.
If you are not getting spark to any of the plugs could be coil rotor and/or cap HEI ignition?
If your car has the 2.5L 4 cylinder engine the gap is 0.060" If your car has the 2.8L V6 engine the gap is 0.045".
The spark plug gap is .045.
count the spark plugs
With good fuel pressure then I would check to see if it has spark after it shuts down.
Depends on your engine: 1.0 liter 3-cylinder = 3 spark plugs, 1.3 liter 4-cylinder = 4 spark plugs
One for each cylinder.
To change the spark plugs in a Chevy Celebrity: 1. Give the spark plug boot a twist to free it up from the spark plug, then pull on the boot to remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug. 2. Use a 5/8" spark plug socket with an extension and ratchet or breaker bar to loosen then remove the spark plug. 3. Set the gap on the new plug to .045" then screw it back into the spark plug hole in the head. Tighten the spark plug and replace the spark plug wire. I change the spark plugs one at a time to keep from getting the spark plug wires on the wrong spark plug.
