Autotrophs, by definition, do not need to eat any other organism, because they manufacture their own food from substances available in the environment, those being water and air and minerals dissolved in the water. Without autotrophs, there would be nothing for herbivorous or omnivorous animals to eat, and without herbivorous or omnivorous animals, there would be nothing for carnivorous animals to eat. So no other types of life would be possible. All food originates with autotrophs (at least until such time as we perfect the Star Trek replicator, which is a kind of artificial autotroph).
an autotroph
Primary producers are plants or foliage that are at the beginning of every food chain/web. A primary producer is always eaten by a herbivore in ecology.
Organisms that produce their own food are called autotrophs. All plants are autotrophs and use photosynthesis to create their food.
The trophic level that has the most energy is the producer(s).
Plants use photosynthesis to make food from sunlight.
They are called autotrophs (or producers). Plants and algae are the primary autotrophs on the planet. This is in contrast to heterotrophs (consumers), which feed on autotrophs and cannot create their own food (internally, that is).
An organism that gets its energy from producers (plants/autotrophs). It is the first heterotroph on a food chain.Primary consumers are the first consumers in line after the producer. They are normally the herbivores that eat the producer.
Organisms that manufacture organic nutrients from inorganic substances, such as carbon dioxide, are called primary producers. They are also referred to as autotrophs.
A producer
Autotrophs are organisms that are able to manufacture their food from simple inorganic substances, they are also called producers.
Living things capable of processing their own food are called Autotrophs. They are living things which contain chlorophyll. So, plants are the only autotrophs.
A primary consumer is the animal that eats the producer in a food web. E.G., a rabbit eats grass or salad, then an hawk or eagle eats the rabbit. So the rabbit is the first animal that eats the producer, therefore making it the primary consumer.
