A Bass Clarinet is essentially a big Clarinet, it just bends at the top and bottom so its in an easier position to play, a Saxophone is a saxophone - they are two different instruments i.e. different materials, different mouthpieces, different fingering etc
No. It was originally created as an attempt at a bass clarinet, but the two instruments are definitely different. The embouchure's are different, the tone and some of the fingerings.
A flute
There are flutes, piccolos, clarinets, oboes, bass clarinets, bassoons, and all saxophones. Most school bands only have alto and tenor saxophones, maybe a bari-sax, and rarely a soprano saxophone.
Clarinets, Saxophones, Flutes...
There are no "jazz instruments." You can find jazz pieces written for almost any instrument, including trumpets, saxophones, trombones, flutes, clarinets, piano, string bass, vocal parts, etc.
saxophones and clarinets
Flutes and oboes are some of the oldest instruments the woodwind family. Saxophones and bass clarinets are some instruments invented not too long ago.
Clarinets and saxophones are both transposing instruments.
Some instruments that look like clarinets include oboes, saxophones, and bassoons.
A bass clarinet, like all the different types of clarinets in it's family, have one reed.
