They did not want to fall in command of Germany an lose there freedoms. Second Answer: The Nazi Germans had attacked Poland so the French and Brits declared war against Germany. The Germans came to them. They fought the Battle of France and lost that one. They fought the Battle of Britain and won that battle. The French gave up because they did not want their nation destroyed as it had been in World War 1. The Brits did not want one Nazi on their soil.
