i got a little cactus once and i still remember that little one needed a LARGE pot. cacti have a LOT of roots and therefore can absorb more water than a normal plant, making an optimal use of the once-per-month rainstorm there is in the desert. cacti contain a large amount of fluids.
Clarification:
Cacti have the ability to store water in their fleshy stems which allows them to survive periods of drought.
because they don't need alot of water and they can only survive in alot of heat and sun............................i think...
as thecactus has small Little needle like leaf , the water in the cactus take more time to evaporate and by the time there's rain in the desert , the cactus may still have a little water left in its leaf .
because they dont need much water
cacti are adapted to their environment
Because Cacti are adapted to live in xerophytic conditions. It is seen by their gross morphology and anatomy.
Most deserts that have cacti do not get cold, except in the dead of winter. Even those cacti growing in a cold winter desert have adapted to survive some freezing weather. However, if a usually hot desert has a sudden severe freeze in winter, some species of cacti are unable to survive.
Cacti are natives only to the Americas. If there are any cacti in the Sahara they did not get there naturally and may have become a noxious invasive species.
Oversized Cacti fields.
the plants are adapted to the climate like in the tundra there are plants that sort of hug the ground like mosses and lichen while in the desert plants that can conserve water and withstand heat such as cacti some shrubs and sagebrush so the answer would be... They are specially adapted to withstand the dry or cold conditions (extreme conditions).
