Why are chinchillas good pets?

I think chinchillas are WONDERFUL PETS! I mean sure they're some work but it's all worth it! I am 11 and I love mine! Whoever answered earlier that they aren't... well no offense, but in my opinion, i think your wrong!

It depends on what you mean by "Good"
They can be very affectionate and fun, but they are very fast and jumpy and require a lot of attention. Although like all pets, it depends on their personality also. I have a pet chinchilla and I think he is a very good cuddly pet, but I've heard and seen some chinchillas that are too jumpy and anxious.

I am no chinchilla owner, but i have been to my friends house who has a chinchilla. I would say they make wonderful pets. They are somewhat fun to watch because chinchillas are really fast and always doing something crazy. They are pretty easy to take care of. I even want my own chinchilla. So, i would say they are good pets.

Yes! Chinchillas are wonderful pets! They live 18 to 25 years on average. They are the softest creatures in the world too! You can teach them some simple tricks and even put them in playpens! Long lasting, smart, cuddly and soft all in one! It's an awesome deal! Trust me! I have one!

chinchillas are smart inquisitive little animal's. due to the fact that they are so smart makes them wonderful pets to own.

there are good sides and bad sides to owning a chinchilla.

lets start with the good.

chinchillas love to run and play out of their cages and a tame chinchilla will love human contact.

chinchillas don't have a very harsh diet, some food pellets, some hay, that's about it, no other foods.

chinchillas are smart enough to train to do tricks, i had mine taught to use the litter box and to jump on and off the couch on command.

another good thing about chinchillas is their fur is so thick that they do not get fleas.

and their fur is softer than velvet. now on to the bad things.

chinchillas cannot get cold repeat cant get cold. they will get sick terribly, chinchillas come from very hot climates and getting cold is not good.

keep the rooms temperature at around 70 or more no less than 60 though.

also chinchillas diets are simple enough, but if they eat something wrong so much as a piece of popcorn can and most of the time will kill them!

chinchillas love to jump very high and try to make jumps they should not make, chinchillas bones are brittle and easily broken which makes their jumping a bad thing.

also chinchillas chew... Alot.

if chinchillas get scared they pee.

so lets hope your not holding one when it gets scared. clean food and water must be given every day.

along with new hay.

and remember that chinchillas are smart and eventually may learn of ways to escape the cage their in.

also,there is no such thing as a small cage for a chinchilla.

chinchillas need very large cages to roam in not tiny little things. chinchillas are not recommended for children 13 and younger.

if your younger than13 i propose a cat or ferret instead as chinchillas are very hard to take care of.
