Orchids do not grow in soil- their roots are frequently in the air, attaching them to other things. Where most plant roots are hidden from light, orchid roots are exposed to the light.

Does a root cell have a chloroplast?

yes, roots are apart of a plant. All plant cells have chloroplasts and therefore root cells have chloroplasts.

Why does a leaf cell have a chloroplast and the root cell doesn't?

Chloroplasts in leaves use sunlight for photosynthesis, producing carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water. Chloroplasts aren't found in roots that are primarily underground and don't receive sunlight.

Name a type of plant cell that may not have chloroplasts?

Chloroplasts need sunlight for development. However, there are plants that do not have chloroplasts and therefore, do not need sunlight. Some of these plants include rhizomes, tubers, and root crops. Window leaf plants and parasitic plants also do not have chloroplasts.

How would you know if a cell was a plant cell and not a root cell?

Root cells are plant cells, but they do not contain chloroplasts like leaf cells.

What typical plant cell organelle would a root cell have less of than a leaf?

What type of root system does a Orchids use?

What is the difference between a leaf cell and root hair cell?

Leaves' cells are made to absorb sunlight and produce sugar for the plant. Roots' cells are made to absorb water.

What is a difference in structure in a plant root cell and a leaf cell with a brief expanation?

A plant root cell does not have chloroplasts whereas a leaf cell has chloroplasts. This is because the roots are away from the light and need not to perform photosynthesis. On the other hand leaves are above the ground attached to the stem branches and perform photosynthsis in sunlight.

What is the difference between a plant's root cell and a leaf cell?

1) Root hair cells don't have chloroplasts as they are under the ground, there is no access of light to them and they do not photosynthesize.Leaf cells do have chloroplasts. 2) Root hair cells have along narrow extension to absorb minerals, ions and water.Leaf cells d not have this extension as this is not their function.

What is the difference between a leaf and a root cell?

It doesn't have chloroplasts because its underground and doesn't need to photosynthesise.
