when the rays pass through the convex lens they tend to converge to the central horizontal axis as a result of which they seem to be meeting at common point so these are also called as converging lens.

Converging lenses....or....convex lens.

What is another name for a convex lens?

Concave and convex can refer the types of lenses used to treat refractive errors in the eyes. Concave is another word for myopic lens and convex is another name for a hyperopic lens also known as nearsighted and farsighted respectively

Is a double convex lens converging lens?

Yes converging lens. The power of the lens is given by reciprocal of its focal length. Moreover the power for converging action is +ve. So as we place two converging lenses ie convex lenses, then we have to add the powers. Once again the power becomes +ve. So converging action is definite.

Why do convex lenses have shorter focal lengths than thin convex lenses?

The convex lenses are converging lens so when the curvature of the lens increases the focal length will decrease which helps when looking up close. A thin convex lens is for seeing things from a distant.

Which of the following lenses is a converging lens A double-convex lens B spherical-convex lens C plano-concave lens D convexo-concave lens?

convex converging apex... :P

What kind of lens is a converging lens?

Convex lenses, also known as plus powered lenses, do cause light to converge. This type of lens is used on a Hyperopic (farsighted) patient. Concave lenses cause light to diverge and are used on Myopic (nearsighted) patients.

Are objective lenses concave or convex?

Objective lenses are convex lenses.

Why is a concave lens called a divergent lens?

A convex lens is wider at the edges than it is in the center. Therefore, it is a converging lens.
