I'm not sure if they ever had alligators, but they used to have crocodiles, although these aren't seen any more as they are blocked off by the Aswan dam.
they are two different species, allowing them to have different features. details seen on both alligators and crocodiles can differentiate them. these features include: alligators are usually dark green/black with wide rounded U shaped snouts and tiny black spots. crocodiles are bigger than alligators with longer + thinner V shaped snouts and tend to be more aggressive.
Crocodiles are more aggressive than alligators. American alligators are also pretty aggressive and they are known to kill and eat florida black bears and cougars. Crocodiles are seen to catch and drown large cape buffaloes, and they will attack any animal that gets near the water or them, even hippos! They are actually very aggressive and quick both on land in water. The saltwater crocodile is known the be the biggest and most aggressive crocodile species in the world!
There are three related species - crocodile, alligator and ghariyal. Crocodiles have active lingual (on tongue) glands that can secrete salt - these glands are present also in alligators but aren't active. That's why crocodiles can live in the ocean where alligators can't survive for long (ghariyal is a purely freshwater species with no such gland at all).Though the crocodiles are poor swimmers, the larget living reptile, called the estuarine crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) can ride sea waves and cross the sea to another nearby land area. They live in mangrove forests or estuaries near the seashore.
Alligators eat most meat they can sink their teeth into. Monkeys are no exception. Most monkeys are however in the upper part when it comes to brain and thought patterns/functions. They are very well aware of the danger posed by alligators and are exceptionally careful when in their proximity. It surely do happen that a monkey is caught by an alligator, but this is in general the young and inexperienced ones. The older monkeys have been seen teasing lions and alligators, mocking them whilst moving too fast to be caught.
