Some species are, but not most....In North America, the whitetail and mule deer are thriving..The race of whitetailed deer called the Key deer, is in trouble in South Florida, however..Only around 400 of this tiny whitetailed deer remain.

Deer don't pose much of a threat to harm humans as other animals, really. The only "threat" deer pose is if they gorge on our gardens or trim off all the flowers in our flower gardens. They'll even eat the feed and hay that have been set out for cattle to graze over winter, and that's serious especially if there's a really big herd of them. But other than that, they're nothing to worry about.
