The best vacuum cleaners have long been considered to be the Kirby range. However the Dyson range is now increasingly popular as different types are added so they are possibly the best for many people.

Yes. So do laser printers, vacuum cleaners, and more.
The hype would say so. No bag, high vortex currents and no clog filters ensure there is always vacuum. Personal experience of the DC01, there are times when the dyson is more efficient and times when a conventional cleaner is better. The dyson flexihose rots out and later hoses don't seem any more robust. On the upright the main handle detaches with the hose making movement of the machine, with hose extended, difficult. Retaining clips and switches can be difficult with long nails. I would like to add a few points here. A lot of the bagless hype is due to clever marketing. The Dyson bagless system is very efficient, but this has lead to a lot of other manufacturers trying to jump on the bagless bandwaggon by creating cheap, unreliable and low performing machines. If you're opting for a bagless machine, it has to be a Dyson. Otherwise, stick with a bagged machine such as a Sebo or a Miele (both of those brands are well known for high performance and reliability).
