They can be made of stainless steel, subject to electrical safety.
4 Sides (Bottom, Back, Sides) can be welded and sealed steel, and one panel glass or acrylic for viewing. There are forums online were people actually make them out of wood.
So you can observe the fish.
Would you rather them be in Tupperware?
Edit: I've seen them made out of plastic, too - just putting that out there. I believe the reason is because algae and other bacteria have a harder time growing on glass than they do on plastic.
Most fish tanks are built in plastics because platic does not break easily.Glass people still use now for their fish tanks at home but i rarely see them, because glass fish tanks can break easily although is transparent
The biorb fish tank is made of glass or plexiglass like other fish tanks, except it has a ceramic filter inside so that when the fish uses the bathroom, it sucks it out quickly.
Most aquariums are made out of normal glass. The thickness of the glass can vary from 6 ml up to several centimeters depending upon how large the tank is.
fish in tanks are magnified by the glass and the water.......... in my round fish bowl my guppies look huge
no they need at least two fish tanks if its for a pet
Fish tanks were not 'discovered' they were invented.
A plastic tank designed for use with live fish will be perfectly safe. Aside from safety, plastic tanks differ from glass tanks in their durability (generally greater) and their clarity (generally less). Yes they are. Make sure to buy the tank new because older tanks can have problems with leaks.
