I noticed from the Nutrition Facts on the Brothers-All-Natural Fruit Crisps 100% freeze dried strawberries and 100% freeze dried bananas (each bag contains approximately 1 banana and 4 strawberries) that Total Fat was listed as 0g 0% and only 1 Calorie from Fat. In addition, for the fruit crisps Total Carbohydrates was listed as 11g 4%. The fat content maybe similar for the raw fruit, but the carbohydrate content listed in the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference for one banana small (6" to 6-7/8") is 23.1g 7.7% so where did the carbohydrates go. Can they evaporate?
An advantage of freeze-dried foods is that they are lightweight.
Such food is lightweight, takes up less space, and is easy to carry.
depending on which liquid you freeze it may depend on how fast it will freeze because it may have less calories or less sugar.
No it has the same amount of calories. By being dried, the banana is only losing water. Since water has no calories, the banana must be the same amount.
everything has calories. somethings just have less then others
Well campers and soldiers use freeze-dried foods because they don't have fridges to Cary around with them.So they would have to get foods that would not have to be in the fridge or in the freezer. Also some other ressons is that when you r campen you usually don't use meats right.
Eat more whole foods like fruits and vegetable and less processed or fatty foods.
There are 9 calories in 1 gram of fat.
There is no such thing as "common foods". Foods are specific sometimes ot certain regions or areas, and there are so many foods out there. Please be more specific in your question, so WikiAnswers can provide you with the best possible answer.
It doesn't always. But more dense foods tend to be higher in calories. This is usually because there is more food. For example, less-dense foods tend to be airy or very watery (think apples, for instance). Something like corn bread is thicker and mroe dense. With less air or water (both no calories) to take up space, you get more food per cubic unit that you do for less dense foods. More food = more calories.
If kept sealed in the original packaging, yes, freeze dried food is considered non-perishable. And for good reason: freeze dried food typically lasts longer than dried food, canned food and many dry goods. In fact, freeze dried meals and individual ingredients, from fruit and vegetables to chicken meat and ground beef, may last as long as 25 years when kept in original, unopened containers in a cool, dry location. Because they are non-perishable, freeze dried foods are an excellent option for long-term food storage, emergency preparedness, survival, and outdoors/ backpacking/ mountaineering purposes. Lightweight and devoid of the majority of their original water content, these meals take up much less room than their canned and frozen counterparts.
To lose more calories than you take in, eat less and exercise more. Some easier ways to eat less is eat more filling foods as well as eating more nutritious foods.
