A cold-blooded animal adjusts its body temperature according to its surroundings;it does not produce as much body heat as we do. If its temperatures prove too low, it can prove fatal. That is why a cold-blooded animal basks in the sun--to raise its body temperature.

Cold-blooded animals do not have cold blood. Instead, their body temperature changes
as the temperature around them changes. Fish, amphibians and reptiles are all coldblooded.

Why are frogs are not seen in winter month?
Frogs, like all amphibians, are cold-blooded and can't maintain body heat. They're basically always at ambient temperature. So when ambient temperature drops too low for them to function, their only option is to hibernate until it gets warmer.
