They don't. They're under constant attack from other girls, from magazines, movies, and themselves to be smarter, prettier, and thinner.

It's not that boys aren't also under pressure. Typically, the guys in movies who are very fit have had something like 10 years or more to sculpt their body, and most boys admiring them are just barely generating their adult muscles. Also, the pressure to aggressive, competitive, and to be sexual beings can also be pretty frustrating for male teens.

There's another angle: Why do older men respect teenage girls more than teenage boys? The ugly truth is that to some people, teen boys are just little punks, and teenage girls are only a few years from being the age of consent. Basically, boys are in the way, and girls become sex targets when they turn 18.

Honestly the other shouldn't be more respected than the other, each individual deserves the chance to have someone's respect unless that person irritates someone else, and looses that person's respect. Both women and men should have an equality of respect for each other and from others, the men shouldn't have an advantage over the women just because they're men.
