A couple reasons that I have noticed is (1) They are imported from a different country (2) They are a rare coloration of the breed such as buckskin, cremello, and palomino (3) They have famous bloodlines or they are famous themselves (4) They are trick trained or trained extensivly in pulling a cart, jumping, or regular trail and areana riding. But there are many reasons as to why they can be expensive.
