Helicopters are used by the army for troop movement on the battlefield. You can't land a C-130 in a jungle or on a rooftop, but a helicopter will go anywhere with a small clearing. Also, helicopters such as the Apache attack helicopter are highly effective against armoured units.
Because it has excellent monuverbilaty, unlike planes, which cant turn around fast.
eg. A helicopter can hover, turn around quickly, Dodge objects (eg. Bullets)
while a plane has to slowly turn around, and cant dodge objects (eg. Bullets) quick enough unless its something like an F15 or something.
The British Army Air Corps was founded in 1911, using balloons and later aircraft, it was joined with the Royal Naval Air Service to form the RAF in 1918, but re appeared to fly gliders in WW2 and now operates Army Helicopters. The US Army Air Corps formed out of the US Air Service in 1926 (the Air Service having been formed in spring 1918) and became the USAF in 1941 - although the paperwork took a while to sort out. The modern Air component of the Army is the Aviation Branch - starting in the 1950's with helicopter units and Air Cav and formally reappearing in 1983. The French formed their Air Corps in 1909 - becoming a separate "Armee de l'Air" in 1933, they formed a new Air Corps similar to the British Helicopter one in 1954. Most countries have one... which did you mean?
An Army installation is called a post. Base is used by the Air Force and Marine Corps.

Not really. the Army Air Corps was replaced in 1941 and was phased out by 1942. They became the United States Army Air Force, which conducted many raids over Germany.

All of them. The Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy all use helicopters.
United States Army Air Corps was created in 1926.
The official day the United States Air Corps separated from the Army would be the year, 1947. The Air Corps had been flying with the army since flight was available to the U.S. Army and when they officially separated from the Army on September 18, 1947 the Air Corps would become the Air Force. I'd bet a million dollars the Air Force flew a plane on that day.

Commander is a rank exclusive to the Navy. It is the equivalent of an Army/Air Force/Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel (O5). A Navy Captain is equivalent to an Army/Air Force/Marine Corps Colonel (O6), whereas a Captain in the Army, Air Force, or Marine Corps is O3. A Navy Captain outranks a Commander, but a Commander outranks an Army, Air Force, or Marine Corps Captain.
The Army has more helicopters than any other service - in large part because the only fixed-wing airplanes the Army is allowed to have are Beechcraft King Air planes that are used as executive transports and intelligence collection platforms.
