CPUs are designed especially for Laptops. They will shut off portions of themselves when not in use.
A netbook will probably start and run slower than a desktop, but the real advantage comes in weight and portability.
The largest difference between any laptop computer and desktop computer is that a laptop is portable and a desktop is not. If you do not require you computer to be portable then a desktop computer is preferable as it will be cheaper to purchase than a laptop of equal specs.
Laptop hard drives are very similar to desktop hard drives, indeed they work in exactly the same way and even use the same interfaces. However laptop hard drives are designed to be much smaller (2 inches as opposed to 3.5) and draw less power than desktop hard drives. As a result laptop hard drives are usually much slower in terms of data transfer and have much smaller storage capacity than a desktop hard drive of the same year manufacture. With an adapter it is possible to use a laptop hard drive in a desktop computer, and if mounted externally it is also possible to use a desktop hard drive on a laptop.
Laptop processors are designed to use less power and create less heat than desktop processors.
Well for one you have to worry about battery life. Second, it is usually less powerful than a desktop. Screen is smaller. And if you had a laptop and a desktop that had the same specs, the laptop would cost more.
NO
Laptop processors are designed to use less power and create less heat than desktop processors laptop processors are used less power.
Generally, a laptop processor should NEVER generate more heat than a desktop processor. That is because a laptop processor uses less power, hence the heat generated would be lesser.
Laptops are extremely advantageous but they do have some disadvantages as well. Here are some of the reasons why laptops can be considered bad. Laptop is slower than a desktop. Moreover, it cannot be upgraded as much as a desktop can. It quickly gets heated and the lifespan is relatively shorter. It has a smaller disk storage than a desktop. The maximum disk storage of a laptop now is 120 GB. Laptops are generally more fragile than desktops. Even the life span of laptops is shorter than that of normal desktops. But the prime disadvantage of a laptop that is creating health hazards is that it is creating worse ergonomics, as the keyboard and the screen in not in the best place for wrists and eyes.
Yes, generally; the question isn't what the hardware is, the question is what OS the machine uses. If it runs Windows, a laptop isn't much different than a desktop machine.

Modern laptops use what are called "SO-DIMM" modules. These are much shorter in length than desktop modules, and are not electrically or physically compatible with desktop memory. Some older laptops did indeed use desktop modules, but these are in the relative minority.
