I am not positivley sure about this answer that i am giving you! Lions are killed because they are thought of causing harm towards other animals and humans. Lions are also killed the the furr to make coats scarfs ect ...and killed for meat to eat. If this helps you please leave a comment on my message board!! =] x
they get hunted for their mane witch is used for bag, clother and other things
i dont know, its so sad though. I am strongly against hunting any animal. ANIMALS DESERVE TO LIVE!!

I'd like to add my two cents to the above response. I will assume the question relates to those who hunt for sport. The simple answer is that countries make a lot of money for allowing this to take place. Some may pay upwards of six figures for the "privilege" of matching wits with an intellectually inferior animal. The game safaris are not limited to predators but extend to casual grazers, as well.

On an emotional level, I do not understand how anyone can feel a sense of achievement or gratification from killing something that is minding its own business, in its own environment. Perhaps it is compensatory. Maybe it imparts a sense of control over an animal's mortality since the hunter, in the end, cannot control his own.

Whatever the reason, gratuitous killing is allowed to take place because governments profit from it.
