typically the framing around a door jamb is doubled (two 2x4's instead of one are used) to account for the additional forces of the door swinging and slamming shut.
the longer screws allow the hinges to attach through both 2x4's.
That is the handles, screws, face plate and everything except the rough in valve. The rough in is the main body of the valve that is installed in the wall before drywalling or putting the tub/shower in. The trim is put on after the walls are finished.

Remove the counter. Counters are usually installed with just a few screws, and the arborite is easy to get out. You'll likely have to re-caulk the edges, but that's going to be a LOT easier than trying to remove parts of the hardwood floor. If the countertops are granite, hire a contractor. The stone is very heavy and is likely to break when you lift it out.

That is a driver bit, not a drill bit. It is used to remove special screws sometimes used by door companies. Those screws make it not possible to remove a door or the hinges without that bit. One of the hinges will have to be a "NRP" (non-removable pin).
I removed the switch today 6 July 08. There were two screws in the back of the washer attached to the hinges which allow the top of the dryer to open. Two screws that hold the lint trap to the inside of the dryer and two screws that hold the dryer door switch. After you remove all of the screws you can lift the dryer top from the front and it will rotate on the hinges in the back. Then you can unplug the switch and plug in a new one. Hope this helps.
A door which hangs on hinges. The hinge is what allows a door to open and close and is made of metal, attached to the door by bolts or screws.
its best to use new holes if you can re-attach the hinges on a different part of the gate. Or else add pieces of wood, even match sticks to the hole, and glue, then screw hinge on with longer screws if possible.
