Because they think it will give them power to do it again. All that really winds up happening is that their so called "power" is drained, and they begin to feel bad about themselves, thus trying to reach you again in any way possible ignoring your boundaries and trying to control you again.

One Opinion:

They do it because they love you and try to make you do good things than badd :) they love you darely and sometimes they dont even know f they are controlling. You should faithful that you have parents there 4 u u should see what other teens r doin. They are on drugs and stuff so be greatful!!!

And, it is a parents job to control you until you are of age, financially independent, educated, worldly wise, and out of the house! When you have your own children, you will understand. In an age of HIV, serial killers, shotguns, Jihad, etc, aren't you glad that you have parents who care enough to try to control all the whacked out things you TRY to get past them? A 27 year old young woman I know, just recently, told me that she was very grateful I kept on her butt, screened her phone calls, and determined with whom she would spend time. She also mentioned that she might be knocked up, pregnant again, married to some loser, and live in a hovel if we had not stayed on her butt.

Parents may exhibit controlling behavior due to a desire to protect their children, fear of the unknown, or a need to maintain authority. It can also stem from their own past experiences, cultural beliefs, or societal pressures. Communication and understanding can help alleviate some of the controlling tendencies.
