A classic BB gun is spring powered. A pellet gun is powered by a CO2 cartridge, and develops much higher velocity.
The above answer is partially correct but there are other factors that make pellet guns more powerful.
BB guns come in Spring power but they also come in C02 and pump power plants. Pellet guns come in spring, pump, C02 and PCP power plants. "BB only guns" use a smooth bore barrel much like a straw. This type of system allows the BB to tumble as it leaves the barrel. The BB itself is round and it really does not spin as it flies through the air. This make BBs not as accurate as pellets.
Pellets have a skirt at the rear of the pellet, this soft skirt catches the air from the firing source it also catches the grooves in the barrel (Rifled barrels.) The grooves in the barrel cause the pellet to spin as it leaves the barrel. This action helps the pellet fly straighter. The air that is caught in the rear of the pellet drives the pallet faster as it leaves the barrel.. Pellet also come in different weights. Heavier pellets fly slower but fly straighter than lighter pellets. Lighter pellets are more effected by crosswind. BBs do not come in different weights or not enough difference to have any effect on the outcome.
The ultimate pellet guns are PCP (PreCharged Pneumatic) air guns. These airguns use a special hand pump or Scuba tank to charge them to 3000 PSI and are capable of firing a 50 caliber pellet at 900 Feet per Second
Pellet guns are more powerful. They are stronger because they use a CO2 Gas, whil BB guns are spring-powered.
It usually says right on the barrel. Single shot / single load pistols are pellet pistols. Most BB guns have a reservoir for the BB's. There are a few that shoot either a BB or a pellet. You will have to look at the instructions or the display box to see what it says. Pellet pistols are more accurate than BB pistols. Most BB pistols will say .177 BB. Pellet pistols will say .177 Cal and not say BB.
There are BB guns and there are Pellet guns. BB guns are not as powerful as pellet guns. BB gun can only fire a .175 caliber BB at a maximum of around 500 FPS. Pellet guns can fire a .177 pellet over 1200 FPS. The most powerful class of Pellet guns and Rifles are PCP's (PreCharged Pneumatic) air guns. These require a special pump or Scuba tank to charge them to 3000 PSI and can fire up to a 50 Caliber slug. Capable of bringing down a full size deer. Pellet guns are much more accurate and powerful than BB guns. If you want a powerful BB gun then I suggest a multy pump BB rifle.
If you are asking strictly about BB guns and not rifles, pellet guns or pellet rifles then I would have to say it most likely is the "IZH-Baikal Drozd BB Gun." It fires at a rate of 541 feet per second. It will fire 1, 3 or 6 shot burst at the pull of the trigger. However Pellet guns and Pellet Rifles are more powerful.
Most pellet rifles are capable of killing a nutria. A few of the more powerful pistols can also kill a nutria. Do not use a BB gun. they are less accurate and may only injure the rodent.
No. Pellet guns can inflict real injury, and can even kill. They should be used only where proper safety precautions are in place, as with more powerful firearms.
Of all the power plants in Air guns C02 is the least powerful. Pump, Spring and PCP are more powerful. About the top end if the C02 power pistols is the IZH Drozd's that are rated at 541 FPS ( feet per second) There may be another one faster but I personally can not think of any. The reason it's so fast is because it is firing a BB not a pellet. C02 pellet pistols are lucky if they can attain 450 FPS because the pellet is heaver. But the pellet pistols are more accurate. If you are looking for blunt force then look into the Crosman 2240 that fires a .22 caliber pellet. A .22 caliber will have more knock down power at 450 FPS than a BB at 541 FPS. Added on by Xposo Custom built or modified Co2 guns can shoot over 700 fps. Valve work, porting and springs needs to be worked on for the gun to produce those kinds of speeds. All of my custom Co2 guns, a Crosman 2250, 2250XT, and a Crosman Custom shop 2300 all shoot over 700 fps and sometimes faster in hotter tempatures. It just takes work to make them shoot hotter and faster.
A firearm is more powerful. Most firearms are more powerful than most BB guns, but there are some exceptions. There are some pro series BB/pellet rifles that are actually more powerful than some small caliber firearms.
The most powerful BB guns are not really that powerful. However "Pellet guns" are much more powerful. Take a look at the PCP line of airguns at pyramydair.com They use a scuba tank to charge the guns with air. BB guns fire about 350 to 450 feet per second. PCP's can fire well over 1000 feet per second.
Yes. Pellet guns are: Pump action, C02 driven, Spring action. The more powerful ones are called PCP. (Precharged pneumatic. ) They use a Tire pump or scuba tank to charge them. All Air Guns & Air Rifles are driven by Air or C02.
In general, BB guns are smoothbore, and the barrel is larger than the steel BB. Pellets guns are rifled, and fire a lead pellet that is a squeeze fit to the bore. This is MUCH more accurate than a BB. GOOD pellet guns are more accurate than firearms, within their usable range. I have one pellet rifle that will put pellet after pellet into the same hole in the target at 10 meters.
well pellet guns are like Nerf but a bit poor they would not even get threw someones chest to the heart Nerf is more popular and the owners are famous billionares the pellet gun companys are not even millionares
