Here are three reasons, but there are more:

  • Rainforests are like the lungs of the world. They breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen, just the opposite of what we do. We're symbiotic.
  • Rainforests are home for billions of insects, birds, reptiles and mammals, including some humans. Their habitat is the rainforest and without it their existence is threatened.
  • Rainforests remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as part of the world's carbon cycle. We need them there as part of the balance. Humans are now adding more carbon dioxide, and at the same time destroying forests.

For many reasons:

A. Fast food resturants use the land they clear for their cattle and use some of the nutrients in the forest to feed the animals, this is what the chickens are fed before they become Chicken Mcnuggets.

B. People want the trees for furniture. The mahogony tree is very popular but very rare now thanks to all the deforestation.

C. To make roads and villages there. The Amazon is a big place, the Brazillian government seem to think it's okay to cut down a few million trees. But how will this affect the PLANETS future? That is a whole other question.

Hope this helps a bit. =]

Rainforests are primarily cut down or burned by humans to clear land for agriculture and cattle pasture (by burning), timber harvesting for furniture or other products (by cutting). Rainforests may also be cleared for mining or roadbuilding.

A:The two main causes of deforestation in South America are the claiming of lands for agriculture and the exploitation for wood products and by-products.

Large areas of rainforest and other green areas are burnt each week or leveled with machines for agriculture and cattle. Many international food companies contribute to this problem, purchasing large areas of rainforest and transforming it for hosting thousands of heads of cattle for supplying their worldwide needs, most often through paper companies. Satellite imaging shows day after day large areas on fire by human hands.

Many legal and many illegal wood processing enterprises go further and further into green areas chopping down and processing large trees and destroying the minor vegetation in their way.

Local governments have tried to impose some limitations but corruption is a problem.

Pollution, mining, farming, and logging (cutting down trees) have all helped to cause the destruction of the Amazon rainforest.

A:Much of it is cut down illegally in the Amazon basin and SE Asia because there is great demand for the timber in developed countries. The work is largely done by poor peasants who know of no other way of feeding their families. They work for logging companies and the palm oil growers (In the Amazon, cattle farmers.) who move in when the land has been stripped. About half the world's rainforest has been cleared. As tropical timbers such teak are becoming scarce, their price is increasing and profits are rising. Official corruption also plays its part. Most of the peasants who cut down the forests understand that deforestation has reached a point where it threatens the health of the planet, but they are trapped in a cycle of poverty that leaves them with no choice. A:The Amazon rainforest is being cut down for a range of things; including wood, gold, tin, hydro-electricity, & farming agriculture. A:Rainforests and other forests are being cut down for their timber, and also to provide grazing space for cattle. The world has a huge demand for beef.
The reason the tropical rainforest's are being cut down because many business companies are being paid by the countries to cut down the rainforest's so they can grow crops and make homes for people that is why the rainforest's is being cut down.
Because people like builders and construction people need wood to build houses and other buildings.
The main reason is, to get the wood. Wood has a wide variety of uses.
The primary reasons for rainforest deforestation are cutting for lumber and clearing for agriculture. also for creating houses for people and making dolls and art to sell and they sell that stuff for money.
For logs and paper. They need paper for ALOT of things! They also need wood for chairs and that kind of furniture!

The rainforest is home to millions of Earth's species, many of which are iconic, such as gorillas, elephants, tigers, monkeys, and parrots. Without it, they would all go extinct. In addition, the plants in the rainforests of the world make a significant portion of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, helping to keep the air breathable. When the trees in the rainforest are cut down, the fertile soil gets washed away and rainfall decreases, leaving behind a large wasteland. In addition, rainforests are home to many indigenous hunter gatherers who depend on them for survival.
