Why are so many simple questions unanswered?

• Over and over again, I am finding and correcting questions that are not in the right categories. When people look for questions to answer they typically will search for unanswered questions in categories of interest.
• People frequently repeat their question in the answer window, presumably thinking that this will help them get an answer. Instead, it marks the question as "Answered", reducing the chances of getting an answer.
• In the case of what might seem easy questions, I very often avoid these because there are many young people who visit the site; we want them to find things of interest and to find lots of questions to which they can contribute.
