Also, many of them have a central plaza or zocalo with the government's administrative buildings surrounding it. Finally, many of them have cathedrals and churches built during the 1600-1800 period. Some cities with these characteristics in Europe are Lisbon (Portugal), Paris (France) and Seville (Spain). Their Mexican counterparts would include Queretaro, Puebla or Guadalajara.
