Spinal cord injuries are serious because if they aren't treated correctly, they can leave someone paralyzed. The spine injury is one of the worst types of innjury because there is a very big possibily that you will never be able to walk again, as said earlier.
If they are not treated correctly, they could cause the person effected to become paralyzed.
This is done in order to keep the brain and spinal cord motionless, so that severing of the spinal cord does not occur (which can happen in injuries such as vertebral fractures in the neck, for instance).
You have a spinal cord so information and signals can get through it and into your brain.
yes spinal cord attached to the brain .spinal cord have bundles of nerves which attached to the brain.
Yes, some spinal nerves do branch off of the spinal cord, so the nerves can collect the messages for the body.
No the nerves in the spinal cord send the messages to the brain. Not the actual spinal cord.
The brain stem connects the brain to the spinal cord, so that the brain can send messages through the cord to the rest of the body. The functioning of the body is severely compromised if the spinal cord connections are severed.
This is the question I was hoping to figure out on this website but no one has answered it yet. So thanks
Yes, the spinal cord is protected from injury by the vertebral column. Around the spinal cord, there is a fluid called cerebral spinal fluid which cushions the spinal cord against minor injuries, and from bruising against the vertebral column.
The spinal cord is the major bone structure of the body. It holds the body in an upright position. The spinal cord protects series of "wires" or "cords" that connect the brain to the body, so that the brain would be able to send messages to the different parts of the body for it to move or to react. The Spinal Cord is vital to our body, because the spinal cord (as stated earlier) contain nerves, veins, etc. that is connected to the brain, thus becoming an essential part of the nervous system. If the spinal cord (which protects the nerves) is damaged, then serious medical illness can occur.
The spinal cord part at the fifth lumbar vertebra affects to lower legs, ankles, and feet, so the calcaneal tendon would be affected by the spinal cord at this location.
The spinal cord is a nerve cord inside the spine traveling all the way to the brain, so if you didn't have the nerve cord you're brain couldn't send/receive messages to the body
To sever the spinal cord causes paralysis of the body below (farther from the head) the point at which the cord is severed.
