Most teachers have little or no knowledge about how a computer works. They pray, that when they turn it on, what they want it to do, it will do. For the most part, their students are more comfortable with the computer than they, because the students bear no responsibility if the computer fails to operate. The teacher has everything to lose...
Of course, there are ways to mitigate or manage this issue, but it requires foresight and planning (think backup plan).
As a former teacher and audio visual professional, I have seen spectacular failures from those who adequately "fail to plan."
Odd question, but one may be scared of a computer, because they do not know how it works, or that it's shape looks alien to them. Is that what you meant?
