Because black and matte surfaces are best at absorbing the energgy from the sun, they heat up fastest and get warmest compared to surfaces of other colours.
to increase surface area
So the radiation from the sun is absorbed by the black surface to heat the water in the pipes.
For the same reason that copper pipes and aluminum foil are not magnetic - silver is not a ferrous metal and has only very weak magnetic properties.
Lighter colors do NOT keep as cold as darker colors NOTICE new roofing systems are silver
if the pipes are warm or hot at the time the coldwater passes though them, it can cause the pipes to cool and contract
Copper pipes will turn black if the cold water running through them constantly condenses. You will see this happen most often during the summer months.
I think copper pipes are painted black because, the black paint helps absorb e.g. sun light therefore passing the heat energy trough the copper pipe...i think
Oxidation
Yes, Type K copper pipes can be buried. Type M or L should not be buried. Also note that it should be placed in CLEAN soil above and below the piping.
Copper pipes will last the longest. anonymous@oola.com
Copper is used as hot water pipes because the copper will not corrode when the hot water goes through the pipes

Copper 99%
No most certainly not. In most countries this is illegal and you will be prosecuted if found guilty. Always use metallic pipes for hot water, inlet or outlet.
=== === By the way I doubt very seriously your using copper pipes your using copper TUBING
No, copper is a metallic element.
Galvanized pipe will be silver/gray color. Copper will be copper. Use a magnet, it'll stick to galvanized pipe but not to copper. Drinking water lines should not be black steel pipe.
