they come from the original plant itself, so it would contain the same DNA of the original plant. However, the plant would not have the exact same characteristics because it isn't growing off the plant, it has been cut off and will become its own, new plant, but will be of the same origin.

Which of the following statements about reproduction in plants is true?

Micropropagation of elite species of plants?

it is the method through which clones of the plants are made by vegetative propagation

What cellular process did plants undergo if they were clones?

Clones are offspring that are genetically identical to their parents and are produced through asexual reproduction, as opposed to sexual reproduction which produces a genetically different offspring.

What is generated by asexual reproduction?

Always during asexual reproduction, the offspring will be genetically identical to the parent. In plants, there are different types of asexual reproduction;budding, vegetative propogation, fragmentation, binary fission, and spores. Just say is a disease or an environmental change came into a field with plants that were identical, the genetically identical plants would mostly likely not survive due to no genetic diversity. Asexual reproduction can happen during mitosis, not meiosis.

Why are genetically identical plants so useful for showing the effect of the environment on appearance?

Environment can play just as important of role in an organism's development as genetics. Genetically identical plants help to rule out variables (is it because of inherited traits or because of the environment in which the plant was located) in phenotypic results. An example is if genetically identical rose bushes were grown in New England verse Arizona. Chances are the resulting adult plants would look much different due to their respective environments: sun quality, water, soil nutrients, pests and disease. Since the rose bushes have identical genomes, the reason for their different appearances is the environment.

The process in which a single plant produces many offspring genetically identical to itself is called?

Vegetative reproduction is a type of asexual reproduction in plants

cloning/Tisssue culture

What causes the dancing of chromosomes in anaphase?

So that the cell can divide into two identical daughter cells, each with its own genetically identical nucleus.

Advantages of budding?

buds identical genetically to parent. quicker to produce next generation. don't need a partner.

its simple no plants cant get sexual with other things but themselves like a person who likes to have sex with themself well tries to
