There are cliques in school because most people fall into a category with what their interests are . If you are not in a clique then why not make some new friends and start a clique of your own . They can also change in size depending on a school. 2,000 kids with 4 grade levels can have easily 30 cliques of about 20- 100 kids. Though it is not as if they always hang out and know everyone in their clique. It depends upon whether you are discussing youth or adults. Some might argue that cliques are largely a youth issue; however, in adult society cliques continue to exists referred to something different such as social status, etc. Maybe, it just depends on how important we make them.
