Of course there are Spiders in New Zealand. In fact the spiders in the movie "Arachnophobia" came from New Zealand. Most spiders are harmless. However there are two spiders that are regarded as venomous. They are the Katipo which s found almost exclusively around the coastline and the Redback spider from Australian.
There is also another spider to be aware of and that s the white-tail spider. The bite has been linked to ulceration of the flesh and, in some instances, cases of necrotising arachnidism (where the flesh starts to die as a result of an infection in the bite). There is, however considerable debate about this.
The katipo and the redback spider are the only two venomous spiders found in New Zealand. They are both related to the black widow spider.
The heaviest spiders in New Zealand would be the Trapdoor spiders in Otago, or the Funnel Web spider - widespread throughout NZ. [Unfortunately, my references did not give weights - sorry.]
There are no snakes in New Zealand and the only venomous animal is the Katipo spider. The only really dangerous creatures are in the sea.Answ2. But there are a couple of introduced spiders, at least in the south; the Australian Red Back, and the Australian White Tail. Neither are fatal, but the White Tail gives a long-lasting itch.
nativly none but the only real harmful spiders here are whitetails but they originate elsewhere. The Katipo spider (Lactrodectus katipo) is the only venomous spider native to New Zealand.
There is a recent Australian import, the White Tailed spider in New Zealand. Rather nasty. I have not heard of a 'silver back'.
Unfortunatelythere are only 17 solitary species of the katipo spiders left in New Zealand, in 50 different areas!
they live in new zealand!! very dangerous can eat a whole humans hand to its bone!!
New Zealand's only native venomous spider is the Katipo Spider. It is also New Zealand's only venomous creature. Two venomous spiders have been introduced from Australia: these are the white-tailed spider and the Redback spider.
No there aren't any known Tarantula species found in New Zealand. Bio-Security claims that the introduction of large spiders will in fact ruin New Zealand's wonderful and rare wildlife.
No poisionous snakes or spiders. Similar size and population. English speaking. Good at rugby.
The bat is the smallest native mammal, but there are many smaller insects, such as spiders, mites etc.
well, Trapdoor spiders live in silk-lined burrows which they dig in the soil. hope i helped (:
