Have you considered becoming a member of the site? Not only can you do more (and have fun), you can avoid seeing the ads just by using your personal settings.

I've never seen a slideshow here, so I'm guessing the answer is 'Become a registered user, go to "My Settings," and check the box marked "Hide Advertisements".'
