A baster...I am and proud.
Firstly, my forefathers accepted the name Baster, thus when I grew up, to say you are a Baster was and still is exactly the same as the name of any other ethnic group/people in Namibia.
The word Baster in Namibia are not anymore connected to the meaning of a child being born out of wedlock/before marriage, it is seen as just another ethnic group.
I am also a Baster due to history made many years ago. When the coloured people in South Africa struggled to get a homeland, which so many other non white ethnic groups had, 90 families decided...enough is enough, they pack their bags and left the Cape area looking for a homeland. They crossed the orange river and bought land from the Nama people at the place called Rehoboth and we are still there.
Forget about the original meaning of the word baster, just realize that there is a ethnic group in the world that are called Basters...very proud people we are and will always be.

A baster is a kitchen utensil used to pick up juices and then dispense them onto a dish. Also, the word Baster is the name of an ethnic group of people living in Namibia. They or shall I say...we are descendants of white Europeans and the Khoisan woman of South Africa. We total about 70 000 in Namibia and there are other Baster people in South Africa.

To inseminate a woman using a baster, first ensure that both partners are comfortable and relaxed. Use a clean, sterile syringe or baster to draw up the prepared sperm or sperm-friendly fluid. Gently insert the tip of the baster into the vagina, aiming towards the cervix, and slowly release the contents. It's important to remain still for a few minutes afterward to help facilitate the sperm's journey.
