A common reason why some people think they are attracted to transsexual persons is because they don't know what the term means. Transsexualism is when someone hates both the genitals they have and the life associated with them, and feels compelled to live as the other sex and get surgery to remove the unwanted parts and to eliminate their transsexualism. Transsexualism is something to overcome (with hormones and surgery), not something to strive for. The people displayed in pornographic magazines with their original genitals exposed do not have the condition of transsexualism, but are either gay men who choose to crossdress, or they have recreational transgenderism. So some who think they are attracted to transsexual persons are really attracted to those who choose recreational transgender lifestyles. Those attracted to such persons are likely gay or bisexual and in denial.
If someone is attracted to actual transsexual persons and are willing to wait until they get their corrective surgery, then there are a few possibilities. They may admire the person's courage and tenacity. Or they ignore the transsexual part altogether and see the actual person; the spirit that resides within.
