Whenever fish start behaving strangely, the first thing I do is check the fish out for any kind of spots or damage on its scales or fins. I also test the water for Ammonia and Nitrite and do a large water change if there is any present. Of course, the fish could be hiding from or may have been bashed by a bully so observing the tank closely for a while is also a good idea.
It could be for a variety of reasons other than resting such as water quality. Make sure you are testing your tank water for nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia which should be less than 10, 0, and 0 respectively.
If these numbers are different, do an immediate water change of at least 50 to 75% making sure that the new water is the same temperature as the old water, and that you use the recommended dosage of water conditioner per the instructions on the bottle.
Also test your PH level as it may be too low for the fish; the water change should also help raise this number.
i have mollies and to of them stays on the bottom they are alive but they they stay pretty much in thesame place
If your fish is pregnant, it would look larger, and there would most likely be little eggs in the bottom of the tank. If your Phantom Fish is a male, and so is your Molly, then most likely the bigger fish is 'the ruler' of the tank. Try putting your phantom fish in a different aquarium, and if it seems happier, keep it there.
Every fish will make your tank dirty because every fish puts out waste.
If there are fish small enough for the molly to swallow in the tank with them then they will most probably be eaten. They will eat their own young.
Because they're tired.
they just settle at the bottom of fish tank
no, i would advise a larger tank x
If your fish food is staying afloat for a week it is most likely because it is just buoyant and you have overfed your fish. Feeding your fish less will reduce fish food staying afloat as well as help keep your fish and tank healthy.
as far as i know yes, unless your fish is aggresive
These fish can be taken care of just like most fish out there. Get a tank with a filter and put them in. Feed the Molly tropical flake food and the 'sucker fish' pleco algae tablets.
gravel
Fish can rest anywhere they wish. There is not necessarily something wrong. If you are complying with the basic rules of successful fishkeeping your Molly should be OK. The basic rules are. 1 inch of fish needs at least 1 gallon of water. ( A Molly is a 3 inch fish) Every tank must have a permanently running cycled filter. Every tank must have at least 50% of its water replaced every week.
Mollys like to be kept at around 70F to 75F
