Why aren't planes build out of the same material as the indestructible black box?

the armored black box is probably made out of steel or a similar alloy to allow it to withstand hitting the ground or surviving the destruction of a plane. airplanes are made out of aluminum because aluminum is light enough to make the plane cheaper. airplanes can be made out of steel or other materials, but the added weight necessitates much more power to get the plane in the air.
some parts of the plane are usually made out of steel or other materials (Wiring is made out of copper or gold, for example. often this is done more extensively on supersonic planes, which need to be able to withstand higher temperatures generated by supersonic speed. on supersonic aircraft, some parts of the plane's engine (or in the case of the SR-71, a MACH 3 aircraft, the entire plane) had to be able to withstand extreme temperatures that would melt aluminum, and were constructed out of steel or titanium instead.
Since titanium, steel, and other stronger materials are almost always more expensive than aluminum, they are rarely used unless it is nessisary.
