The linear shape of beryllium chloride is due to the fact that it has a small central atom relative to the size of the chlorine atoms. This results in a small bond angle and a linear shape. The angular shape of water molecule is due to the fact that it has a large central atom relative to the size of the hydrogen atoms. This results in a large bond angle and an angular shape.

In beryllium chloride , there is no lone pair on beryllium atom. The chlorine atoms attached to it experience electron-electron repulsion. As a result, the chlorine atoms move far away from each other in order to attain stability of the compound. Therefore, it results in the formation of an angle of 180 degrees. Reference - Google.

What is the molecular geometry or shape of beryllium chloride (BeCl2)?

Linear

What molecule or ion have a linear shape?

For example nitric oxide (NO) and beryllium hydride (BeH2) have linear molecules.

Is beryllium fluoride polar?

BeF2 is non-polar as it is (strangely) covalent in nature and as such, the molecule has a linear shape which produces a non-polar molecule.

What is the geometry of BeCl2?

BeCl2 is the molecular formula for beryllium chloride. The geometry of the chemical compound is linear and it is also nonpolar.

What is the shape and angle of BeCl2?

Boron tetrachloride has three bonds. The most stable structure from this molecule is trigonal pyramidal because there will be a pair of electrons left in Boron after bonding with 3 Cl- ions. Therefore, the bond angles between two chlorine atoms are <<109 degrees. It is incorrect to say it is trigonal planar in structure because the pair of electrons left are ignored.

The bonds in beryllium hydride molecules are polar and yet the dipole moment of the molecule is zero explain?

It is a linear molecule, so it is symmetrical and one force would cancel the other out.

Which molecule out of CO2 and So2 possesses zero dipole moment.explain with reason?

Dipole moment of CO2 molecule is zero, becoz it is linear molecule, whereas SO2 is angular molecule having dipole moment 1.61 D....:)

What is the difference between linear momentum and angular momentum?

Is BeF2 molecule have a linear shape?

Atoms in molecules like to arrange themselves in alphabetical order. Therefore, the structure of beryllium fluoride is BeFF. It is linear because it is nice to write the letters on a straight line.

What is momentam?

The moment of linear momentum is called angular momentum. or The vector product of position vector and linear momentum is called angular momentum.
