Possible reasons: 1)You'll have to check, but some calipers have to be turned in like the cap on a bottle of soda. Others have to be pushed in while being turned.

2)The caliper is not seeded correctly meaning that it is not going in straight.

3)The caliper is seized up, meaning that there is something between the piston and wall keeping it from moving. Rust maybe. If the boot around the caliper is torn then this is probably the case.

4)It's unlikely, but on the inside of the walls of the caliper there is a seal, if the seal is damaged then it might keep the caliper from being pushed or turned in.

Cant depress caliper piston on 94 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme rear caliper?

The rear piston has to be turned in, it won't just push in, they make a tool at the parts store that makes it easier, if you have tried turning it in and it won't go you will have to replace the caliper as it's bad.

Where is my brake fluid going cant seem to find a leak on 2000 Oldsmobile intrigue?

As the disk brake pads wear, the callipers will retain more brake fluid. You won't necessarily be LEAKING brake fluid, but you may be needing to examine your brakes.

What size is the bolt to the brake caliper for 1994 Cadillac sedan deville?

The Rear Caliper Bottom Bolt head size is 12 mm. The Top bolt is enclosed only making it a slide bolt therefore you cant and really have no need to remove it. So the only bolt you should remove is the bottom 12mm head bolt. Then there will be a 14mm bolt that will hold the Emergency Brake Cable Bracket to the Caliper. Loosen this bolt and remove the Emergency Brake Cable Bracket from the Caliper. Then pry the bottom of the caliper up off the disc. This will allow you to swing the caliper up then push the caliper back to slide the caliper off the enclosed bolt slide at the top of the caliper. This will allow access to the inside and outside pads to remove them and allow you to press and rotate the Piston (Push and Twist-in Pistons) back into the Caliper with the right Brake Caliper Compression tool. The rear two Caliper Bracket bolt head sizes are 18mm. You must remove the Caliper bracket in order to remove the rear brake disc. The Front Brake Caliper Bolt is a 3/8" Allen head bolt. There will be two bolts holding the front calipers to the Spindle. The Front calipers are standard push-in Pistons.

You cant push the piston on your rear brakes back in on my 02 Volvo s40?

Sounds like a siezed piston. This occurs typically from two causes. Either the piston is not aligned perfectly with the cylinder bore or there is corrosion on the cylinder walls behind the piston preventing it from going into the bore. Brake fluid is hydoscopic, meaning it attracts & absorbs water. If the fluid is not changed at the recommended intervals, any moisture in the fluid will cause corrosion in the brake lines, cylinders, etc. The solution is to remove and rebuild or replace the caliper. A flush of the brake fluid would also be prudent. The rear brakes on your '02 s40 are slightly different from the front. On the front, you can press the piston in. On the rear, the piston needs to be screwed in. Notice the slot going across the head of the piston? There is a special tool that looks like a small block and sits on top of piston and a small piece sets in the slot as the block sits on the piston. Turn clockwise to press in. You can use pliers of some sort but need to be careful because you can rip the rubber. You need to turn the piston in clockwise direction to push in the piston

You can take it in to a dealer but all they can do is call for you and i havent found anyone to do for less than $80 bucks so im trying to do it myself there has to be a way . but thanks anyway
