You have to wait for one of your friends to find one on their farm. It will show it on a post. All you have to do is click "Adopt the Animal" and if someone hasn't clicked it yet, you can adopt the animal.

Search your friends' Farmville news feed and look for lost animals that they posted. Click on adopt and if that animal isn't adopted yet, then you will.
If you mean farmville on facebook, then you just have to log into your account. Your farm will be intact
Lost animals show up randomly - there is no telling when they will appear.

you adopt animals by going to the homepage on facebook, and finding a lost animal. Then click adopt the [animal name], and sometimes someone else may took it, like my ugly duckling that i found, you can adopt that if you want, just click the button =)
no there isn't a cheat, animals turn up randomly, and they can only be adopted if one of your neighbors find an animal and post it on their wall
A screen pops up while you are playing. You do not have to share it with friends. You can share it or not help the lost animal.
