most dentists / oral surgeons / doctors in general don't want to give a pregnant woman ANY drug that's not absolutely necessary - including lidocaine/procaine/etc anesthetic, or any post procedural painkillers except a few Tylenol.

And if there are complications from the extraction, she may need antibiotics or bigger pain killers, neither of which they want to give either.

So they usually tell a pregnant woman to wait until after delivery for major dental work. If an abscess develops, or if pain becomes extreme, they will often decide to do something, but usually will try to avoid it if possible.
