well... if ur religious then u might want to consider that Jesus will come down to earth and take u away with him or watever u believe (m not christian so...)

but if u look at it scientifically, u see that the world is in a minor danger...

there global warming happening all over the world: flooding in Pakistan, earthquake in New Zealand and haiti... u name it...

on the other hand, the sun is getting older... possibly it will run out soon... scientist say that it will run out in 5000 years time... as u know sun is a star and star go through some process and become prosta, black drawf, white srawf, black hole... so sun is currently on that process....

if the sun dies and becomes a black hole, it will pull the three planets: Mercury, venus, earth and mars and the asteroid that is in between Jupiter and mars.

all the planets after asteroid is safe...

Our cells are programmed to die.

Our somatic cells (cells that are not part of the reproductive system) undergo rapid cell division in order to rejuvenate and replace dying cells. Humans have chromosomes in their DNA which contains important information that keeps us normal and healthy, and when a cell is divided, a little bit of chromosome information is lost. In order to deal with this, extra DNA is added to the chromosomes so that when a cell is divided, it still retains all necessary DNA for functioning normally. Eventually, however, the cells cannot divide anymore because they can't afford to lose any more DNA which has been slowly diminishing due to cell division, and therefore it dies.

Basically, the number of times a cell can divide before it dies (known as the Hayflick limit) is about 50 for humans, but as we age, this number lessens. When we die, this number goes to 0 and new cells are produced.

DNA causes nearly everything in humans and animals. it gives you a limit to how high your IQ can be and it also causes you to get old. also environmental things like smoking and eating too much can affect this. but DNA is what naturally makes you age.

It's kind of a morbid answer, but organisms are programed to die.

Take humans for example. Our somatic cells (cells that are not part of the reproductive system) rapidly undergo cell division in order to rejuvenate and replace dying cells. Eventually, however, the cells cannot divide anymore because they can't afford to lose any more DNA which has been slowly diminishing due to cell division.

Basically, the number of times a cell can divide is about 50 for humans, but as we age, this number lessens. When we die, this number goes to 0.

Other organisms have varying Hayflick limits (the number of times their cells can divide before dying), but eventually, like humans, this number becomes less and less as they get older, and eventually becomes 0 when they die.

There are, however, organism that have biological immortality, like some hydra species. Another example would be a jellyfish called the immortal jellyfish. When the jelly fish mates, it's cells turn back into young cells - it turns into a baby, and regenerates. These jellyfish never die of old age, however nothing stops them being eaten. In this way, some species don't die naturally, but are killed for other reasons like being eaten, disease, etc.

Due to overpopulation there has to be a limit on ones lifespan.

Bad premise; the universe isn't infinite. Or at least, we don't THINK it is. And it isn't infinite in age, either; we're fairly sure that the universe is around 14 billion years old. We're not sure about the ultimate fate of the universe; we've only been thinking about this for 60 years or so, so we've barely begun.

But as far as lifespan, we're fairly sure that the cellular repair mechanisms in our bodies eventually stop working. There is some research into doing some cellular repair on the cellular repair mechanisms, but this, too, is just at the beginning stages.

Man's treatment is temporary. Only God can and will restore us to life eternal.

Why do organisms bother to reproduce?

Since almost all living things have a finite lifespan, organisms reproduce to maintain the presence of the species. It is a biological imperative.

Why is life so finite whilst the universe is infinite?

You make unjustified assumptions. We do not believe that the universe is "infinite"; it had a beginning, and we do not know if it will have an end. We do not know how large it is. And you also may be making an unjustified assumption about "life". There are uncounted trillions of living organisms here on this single planet that we call "Earth"; We have barely scratched the surface of two others, and have essentially no knowledge at all of what other kinds of life may exist in other solar systems - or, in the realm of truly exotic "life" forms, perhaps even living in deep space. There are perhaps a half-trillion stars in the Milky Way galaxy, and we know PRECISELY NOTHING about any of the trillion other galaxies. Life may not be "infinite", but on such a scale as that, how could we know the difference?

How is the term 'parallel universe' defined?

A parallel universe would be another region of our space-time with its own matter-energy configuration and its own physical laws and constants. In the hypothetical multiverse there could be an infinite number of them existing alongside our universe. This means there could be infinite copies of each one of us living out our lives in infinitely different ways!
